Elene Yount West Bollinger

Elene Yount West Bollinger, age 97, of Hickory, passed away Monday, February 29, 2016 at Trinity Village. Born July 26, 1918 in Burke County, NC, she was the daughter of the late Garland Edgar Yount and Nannie Adell Crotts Yount.

Elene was a 1936 graduate of Hickory High School and was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church where she had served on the church council and had been active in Sunday School and in the WELCA. She was a former member and past president of the Pilot Club. Elene had retired as the catalogue department manager for Sears Roebuck Co. and had been active in their retirees club.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Jack Livingston West, Sr. and her second husband, Ray Hunt Bollinger, and her brothers, Adrian Yount and Troy Yount.

Those left to cherish her memory are her sons, Jack L. West, Jr. and his wife Judy and Rev. Scott Bollinger and his wife Cynda, both of Hickory; grandchildren, Jackson West, Nathan West, Riley Bollinger and Grace Bollinger; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 p.m., on Saturday, March 5, 2016 at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Hickory, with Rev. Bill Miller-Zurell officiating. The family will receive friends in the Fellowship Hall following the service. A private graveside service for family will be held at Catawba Memorial Park on Saturday prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 547 6th Street NW, Hickory, NC 28601.

The family would like to thank all of Elene’s caregivers for their love and care, especially those at Trinity Village and her niece Susan Yount.
