Elizabeth Adams

Elizabeth "Betty" Gilliam Adams, 93, of Hickory, went to be with the Lord on Friday, June 26, 2026. Born on December 18, 1932 in Kentucky to the late Leslie Lee and Gracie Owens Gilliam. She attended Corinth Reformed Church in Hickory. She and her late husband, Darrel D. Adams, retired in 1988 and began one of their favorite journeys, camping all over the country.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Darrel Adams; and two sons, Allen Lee Adams and David S. Adams.

She is survived by a loving family including two daughters, Pamela J. Rockwell and Beverly Adams Peterson (Thomas) both of Hickory; three grandchildren, David Allen Adams (Tracey) of FL, Luke Adams Peterson (Paxton) and Lacy Peterson Street (Morgan) of Hickory; several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews as well as an adopted daughter, Karen Teller of Lenoir and two sisters, Mary Collins and Linda Scott (Phil) both of GA.

Elizabeth worked at several different jobs over the years, but the one job she loved best was being a mom and mamaw.

A celebration of life will be held in the Chapel of Drum Funeral Home in Hickory at 11:00 AM on Saturday, August 8, 2026. Visitation will be prior from 10:00 to 10:45 AM.
