Evelyn Hollar Killian, 90, departed her earthly home on April 25, 2016, following a period of declining health. She was surrounded by family as she began her heavenly journey. She was born June 21, 1925, and was the daughter of the late Daniel Frank Hollar and Myrtle Dellinger Hollar. She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Carl Eugene Killian. Evelyn was a member of St. Stephens Lutheran Church (Missouri Synod) where she assisted in making quilts for distribution by Samaritan’s Purse. She retired from Dunmore Furniture, formerly Comfort Chair Company, after working more than forty years in the sewing department. She was a wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who cherished her family and treasured time spent with them. She was an avid reader and delighted in being outside whether working in her vegetable and flower gardens or relaxing on the beach. She took great pride in her cooking and baking as well as her handiwork of creating quilts for family members. Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Linda and husband, Robert Weaver of Hickory; granddaughter, Lisa and husband, David Bull of Raleigh; grandson, Shawn Weaver and wife, Leslie of Raleigh. She is also survived by her beloved great-grandchildren, Caroline Bull, Davis Bull, Mason Weaver, Henry Bull and Liam Weaver. A celebration of her life will be held at St. Stephens Lutheran Church (Missouri Synod) in Hickory at 3:00 p.m., on Friday, April 29, 2016, with Rev. David Guelzow and Rev. David Ziehr officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive from 1:30 to 2:45 p.m. Pallbearers will be Shawn Weaver, David Bull, Allen Killian, Steve Killian, David Killian and Howard Childress.
