NEWTON – Essie Fay Isom, 82 of Newton passed away peacefully and mercifully into the arms of her Lord on December 26, 2024 at home with her children.
Born on November 21, 1942 in Tazewell County, VA to the late Graham and Kate Stinson Lester. Fay was a simple woman who loved her family and friends. She was devoted to her faith and her church Holiness House of Prayer for over 30 years where her husband was Pastor. For the past 5 she has attended Pentecostal Church of the Living God.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Raymond Isom; son, Kenneth Ray Isom; siblings, Robert Lester, Ola Mae Isom, Dale Lester, William Lester, Dempsey Lester, and Joe Ed Lester.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Katy Ventre and husband Jim; Richard Isom and wife Deanna; sister, Guy Ann Maxwell and husband Richard; grandchildren, Zachary Smith, Hannah Reid, Amanda Isom, Raymond Isom, Kristen Isom and Kenneth Aaron Isom; 9 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandson; special friends, Debbie Bowlin, Jean Cooper, Rita Eby and numerous nieces, nephews and other family members.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Monday, January 6, 2025 at 1 PM at Catawba Funeral Home with Pastor Curtis Peak officiating. Burial will follow at Catawba Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12 PM -1 PM at the funeral home.
