Captain Fergus Forbes, affectionately known as “Ferg and Papa Smurf” was the third child of the late Chief Master Sergeant Robert Forbes Sr. and Bernice Brewington Forbes. He was born on December 9, 1960, at Clark Air Force Base Hospital in Manila, Philippines, and passed away on June 11, 2026, in Hickory, North Carolina.
He is survived by his wife, Teresa Forbes; his children, Tenesha Forbes McCollum (Otis) of Greensboro, NC; Tenicka Forbes of Greensboro, NC; and Fergus D. Forbes (Maria) of Hickory, SC; and his grandchildren, Trey D. Forbes and Camryn A. McCollum of Greensboro, NC. He is also survived by his siblings: Felicia F. Williams of Las Vegas, NV, Felix Forbes (Mae) of Stanley, NC; and Robert Forbes Jr. of Richmond, VA; along with a broad network of extended family, including nieces, nephews, and other cherished relatives.
Funeral Service will be held on June 22, 2026 at 10:00 am at Drum Funeral Home , 940 29th Avenue NE, Hickory, NC.
