Frances S. Simmons, age 87 went to be with the Lord on Tuesday January 13, 2015 at her home. Memorial services will be held at 1:00 pm, Saturday January 17 at Catawba Funeral Home in Hickory. Burial will be private. Frances was born in Catawba County to W.A. and Etta Campbell Setzer and lived in the area her entire life. She loved animals especially dogs and rescued and nursed back to health many stray’s who she took into her home as her pets. Frances is survived by her nephews, Danny Simmons and wife Violet of Melford, Delaware; niece June Elmore and husband Charles of Catawba County and brother Willie Setzer. She was preceded in death by her husband Ernest “Buster” Simmons. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Greater Hickory Cooperative Christian Ministry, 31 1st Ave. SE, Hickory, NC 28602.
