Rev. Frank "Sonny" Louis Coffey

Sonny was born February 27, 1939 in Catawba Co. to the late Ray Coffey and Catherine Singleton Byers. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, J. Alexander Hughes, a sister, Bertie Sherrill and father-in-law, Will Hudson.

He was a member of Spirit Filled Worship Center, a veteran of the US Army and retired as a Lt. with the Longview Fire Dept.

Surviving is his wife of 50 years, Marie Hudson Coffey of the home; daughters, Tina Roland and husband, Rev Mike Roland of Hickory and Lisa Thomas and husband, Danny of Hildebran; grandsons, Michael Louis Hughes and Joshua Franklin Roland both of Hickory; granddaughter, Lindsey Nicole Hughes of Hickory; great granddaughter, Madison Elizabeth Parvell Hughes of Taylorsville; great grandson, Troy James “TJ” Hughes of Vale, a sister, Linda Terry of Hickory, mother-in-law, Vera Hudson of Hickory and a number of special nieces and nephews.

Services will be Friday, June 22, at 11:00 A. M. at Spirit Filled Worship Center with Evangelist Gary Branch officiating. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the service.

Burial will follow in Winkler’s Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with military honors being conducted by American Legion Post #48.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 6:00 – 7:30 PM at Hickory Funeral Home.
