NEWTON – Gary Reid Helms 72 of Newton went home to be with the Lord on March 5, 2026.
Born on March 2, 1954 in Mecklenburg County to the late Willie Emerson Helms and Mildred Turner Watts.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, Michael Ray Helms.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 47 years, Marilyn Woodard Helms; children, Johnathan Reid Helms, Angel Helms Gross and husband Billy; grandson, Lucas Gross; sisters, Teresa Watts Moore and husband Tim, Davil Helms Harris and husband Terry; brother, Bobby Helms and wife Teresa; sister in law, Linda Sue Helms and numerous other family members.
Services will be private.
