Newton - Gary Allen Workman, 68, passed away, Thursday, October, 29, 2015, at Frye Regional Hospital after several years of declining health. Gary was born May 13, 1947, in Catawba County to the late Thomas and Mildred Keener Workman. Gary had worked for City of Newton, Newton Police Department and the Catawba Sherriff's Department. Gary loved family time , playing with his dogs and painting with watercolors. Surviving family include his wife of 43 years, Georgette Miller Workman, a son; Aaron Workman, a daughter Aveary Walsh and husband Peter, grandchildren Levia Workman, Olivia Eckard and Kora Walsh, a brother; Ron Workman, a sister; Janie Hughes and husband Jackie all of Hickory and several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be Sunday, Nov. 1st, at 2:00 P. M. at Hickory Funeral Home with Rev. Ernest Richards officiating. Condolences may be made online at www.hickoryfh.com.
