Gathor Carl Coffey

Gathor “Bud” Carl Coffey, 78, entered into Heaven on Saturday, October 18, 2025 at his residence. Born April 4, 1947 in Kings Creek, Caldwell County, NC, he was the son of the late Robert Ivey Coffey and Mabel Margaret Lackey Coffey. Bud enlisted in the Army and served in Vietnam. He was a truck driver, and beekeeper but was most passionate about being Santa. He was a faithful member of Kings Way Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Erica D. Coffey; brother, Robbie Coffey; and sister, Donna Church.

Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Barbara Coffey; son, Charles Blachnik (Krickett); daughers, Sarah Sutherland (Jason), Heather Weeks (James), Chev Ell Hamby (David); brothers, Bruce Coffey (Debra), Bill Coffey (Doris), Julius Coffey, and Tim Coffey (Robin); sisters, Pam Pennington and Judi Anderson(Danny); nine grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.

A memorial service with military honors will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 8, 2025 at Kings Way Baptist Church with Pastor Andy Stephens officiating.

The family will receive friends from 5:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, November 7, 2025 at the church. They will also receive friends one hour prior to the service.
