GENEVIEVE EVELYN ANNAS HICKORY- Genevieve Evelyn Annas, 93 of Hickory passed away on January 9, 2021 at Carolina Caring. She was born on March 21, 1927 in Yancey County, to the late Alvin Nathaniel and Margaret McNeil Geouge. Genevieve loved gardening, birdwatching, bowling, hiking in the mountains. Self taught herself on how to sew and play piano, which she played in church for a long time. Genevieve especially loved caring for her grandchildren and being a servant for Jesus. She kept her strength throughout all adversity and continued with what God called her to do. What we will always remember is her strength of character and not ever giving up. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ancel Wilburn Annas; brothers, Richard, Leland, Charles, Lawrence, and Billy Geouge; sister, Marie Bolick. Survivors include her daughters, Patricia Sellers and husband, Greg, Sandra Clark, Robin Moretz; grandchildren, Tracy Clark, Dawn Wilkinson, Sara Sellers, Brandon Sellers and wife Heather, Regan Moretz, Lauryn Moretz; great-grandchildren, Deana Wilkinson, Gavin Egbert, Jake Weathers, Ava Sellers, Jenna Sellers, Easton Moretz, Lakelyn Moretz; brother, Bob Gouge and wife Ruby; sister in law, Sonya Geouge; and numerous nieces and nephews. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, January 16, 2021 at Longview Baptist Church at 9:30 am with Pastor Ed Yount and Danny Oakley officiating. Burial will follow at Catawba Memorial Park. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 9 am -9:30 am. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Gideon’s International, Carolina Caring, 3975 Robinson Rd, Newton, NC 28658, or Longview Baptist Church, 205 24th St SW, Hickory NC 28602. The family would like to express their thanks to the staff of Carolina Caring and Catawba Valley Medical Center ER, a special thanks to great-granddaughter, Deana Wilkinson and friend Paula Watson for the daily care of Genevieve. Granny Annas was always such a sweet lady to everyone she welcomed everyone with open arms. She was a god-fearing woman her religious values was very important to her. She will definitely be missed by so many. I love you Granny.
