Geraldine Rainey, 94 years of age, met her creator peacefully on February 2, 2025.
Geraldine was born in Jackson, Tennessee on October 23, 1930, to devoted parents Lucille and B. Alton Edwards, both of the greatest Generation, he a Naval veteran of WWII. They taught and exemplified courage, strength, and commitment to family and faith.
Geraldine was a dedicated wife to Donald Glenn Rainey and together they created a family unified in love and Christian faith. She worked beside her husband in a multi-state furniture business beginning with a simple family-owned store in Jackson, Tennessee, Rainey Furniture Company. She was also a church secretary, choir member, and generous volunteer and philanthropist in several civic organizations in Jackson.
Geraldine had a timeless sense of southern style, a love for sewing, cooking, and the hosting of dinner parties for family and friends. There was not a friend who did not receive a birthday cake from her kitchen. Her smile and dimples would light up any room. Her optimism and laughter were inspiring and infectious. She lived her life fully, prayed humbly, and loved unconditionally. Her greatest gift lay in loving others, especially family, and supporting their reach for their personal dreams.
Geraldine is preceded in death by her husband, D. Glenn Rainey, her sister Norma Joyce Edwards Geyer. We will certainly miss her more than words can express while trusting we will see her smile once again in heaven.
She is survived by her children, Denis Glenn Rainey, (Mary Ann), Julie Rainey Spratt, (Chris), and Jill Rainey Thomas, and grandchildren Melissa, (Quint), Jason, (Brittany), Preston, (Lauren), Cameron, Maxx and great grandchildren: Caden, Mason, Hadley, Hudson, Ivy, Eli, Dalton, and Henry.
A private graveside service will be held at a later date.
