Ginger Ann Byers

Ann was born on Feb. 10, 1935 in Catawba County to the late Everette Bowman and Edna Arndt Bowman Morris. She was a member of St. Andrews Lutheran Church in Hickory.

She is preceded in death by her brothers, Hurby and Larry Bowman.

In 1953 she graduated from Hickory High School and in 1967 from Lenoir Rhyne University with a teaching degree. Before retiring in 1995, she worked in the Catawba County School system for 28 years. Ann also received the Teacher of the Year Award for the 1989-1990 school year. Besides enjoying teaching she worked in her yard and flowers and her beautiful cross stitching was enjoyed by many.

She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Wayne Byers of the home; two children, Leigh Ann Benson (Tom) of Stokesdale and Tim Byers (Becky) of Taylorsville; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

There will be a graveside service held at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens on Tuesday, Dec. 19, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. The family will be at the home if anyone would like to visit with them after the service.
