HICKORY – Glenda Mildred Hollifield, 87 of Hickory went home to be with the Lord on April 15, 2026.
Born on January 25, 1939 in Spruce Pine, she was the daughter of the late Rosco and Ruth Wyatt Riddle. Glenda loved blue grass festivals and George Jones. She was characterized by her family and her faith. She will be dearly missed and never forgotten.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dock Hollifield; son, Tommy Lynn Morris; daughter, Jackie Ruth Hollifield; and grandson, Drannan Hollifield.
Left to cherish her memory is her brother, Eddie Riddle; sister, Gloria Fitzgerald and husband Larry, sister, Donna Riddle; son, Greg Morris; daughters, Shelia Kirby, Tammy Ford, Kimberly Clark; 17 grandkids; 21 great grandkids; a very special friend, Pat “Willis” Moore and numerous nieces, nephews and other family members.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Tuesday, April 21, 2026 at 2 PM at Catawba Funeral Home with Pastor Harvey Shane Yount officiating. Burial will follow at Catawba Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1PM – 2 PM at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Burke County Friends for Animals.
