GLENN RICHARD BENFIELD Hickory - Glenn Richard Benfield, 78 of Hickory went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 10, 2022 at Catawba Valley Medical Center. Born on January 13, 1944 in Catawba County, NC, he was the son of the late Lloyd E. and Georgia Hawn Benfield. Glenn loved to build and race slot cars, play tennis and chess. Later in life, he enjoyed attending races at The Hickory Motor Speedway. Glenn is survived by 2 daughters, Pam Benfield and husband Robert Lowe, and Angela Reitzel and wife Nikki Curtis; 3 grandchildren, Trevor Lowe, Brandon Reitzel, and Courtney Reitzel; a sister, Kay Price; a niece, Kelli Brown and a nephew, Kevin Brown. A Graveside service will be held at Catawba Memorial Park on Saturday, May 14, 2022 at 2:00 pm with Pastor Jeff Brown officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Parkinson Association of the Carolinas or the American Heart Association in Glenn’s name. Condolences may be left at www.catawbamemorialpark.com.
