

Born in Chicago, Grace Anna Rempert was the daughter of Irwin Rempert and his wife Grace, nee Sylvester. She received her bachelor of fine arts degree from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. In 1973 she married the Reverend Arthur Yunker and they moved to Rushford, Minnesota. She bore two sons, Ward in 1974 and Mark in 1977. In 1978 they moved to Rochester, Minnesota, where she was active in women's circles and the Rochester Central Lutheran School PTA.
In 1996 they accepted a call to New Orleans where they lived for 10 years. Grace was active in the Faubourg Marigny Neighborhood Association, where she served as Secretary. She also led tours of the French Quarter.
After hurricane Katrina, they relocated to Mobile, Alabama, where they bought Arthur's parents' house. Arthur became pastor of Christ Lutheran Church in Pascagoula, Mississippi. They lived there for 13 years. They retired to Lake Lure North Carolina in 2019. While there, they became active in Augustana Lutheran Church in Hickory. Their son Ward died of COVID-19 in January 2021. After 5 years in Lake Lure they moved to a retirement community in Sanford, North Carolina, where she was an invalid until the Lord took her home.
A memorial service for Grace will be held Saturday, March 8, 2025 at 3:00 PM at Augustana Lutheran Church, 1523 16th Street SE, Hickory, North Carolina 28602.
