She is a woman that will always hold a special place in any heart she touched, and will continue to hold the title as one loyal and loving, genuine and classy southern belle.
Gwen is proceeded in death by her loving parents, Fredrick Vernon Marshall and Nan Susan Stephens Marshall.
She was the eldest of 3 children, survived by her twin spirit born 7 years her latter, Judi Marshall Hardy, and her brother 14 years younger, Richard Fredrick Marshall, who she always tried to keep tightly under her wing. Gwen grew up in Longview, NC, was a member of the Jaycees and actively participated in volunteer work at Longview Elementary and First Presbyterian Church of Hickory.
Gwen attended Lenoir-Rhyne University, later becoming a bookkeeper, but always having an inherent love and talent for designing with fabric and fiber. The job she took her greatest pride in was as a mother to her three adoring and grateful children, Marsha Beth Barringer, David Vernon Barringer and Megan Elaine Roever Baxter, and always a precious grandmother to Ellery Elaine Baxter and Lucy Nan Baxter.
Gwen is survived by her husband of almost half a century, Eldon David Roever, who shared a life of companionship and wholehearted devotion. When it came to love, Gwen loved unconditionally and sweetly, and though she will be missed here physically, she is with us forever in Spirit.
A private family memorial service will be held at First Presbyterian Church of Hickory.
In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to be made in her name to The Alzheimer’s Foundation or St. Jude Children's Hospital.
