Harry Richard Newton Jr.

Harry “Buddy” Richard Newton, Jr., 73, of Hickory, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, May 7, 2013 at Carolina Medical Center in Charlotte. Born October 18, 1939 in Catawba County, he was the son of the late Harry Richard Newton, Sr. and Lorena Hall Newton. He was a member of Springs Road Baptist Church and retired from Getrag Corporation.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sons, Randy Cooke and Raymond Todd Newton; and brother, Max Hall Newton.

Buddy is survived by his wife of 53 years, Aileen Ballard Newton of the home; son, Steve Cooke; daughter, Jennifer Caldwell and husband John; sisters, Melissa (Susie) McRae and Katharine (Kathy) Newton; grandchildren, Leigh Ann Houser and husband Shawn, Chasity Caldwell, Jonathan Cooke, Jesse Cooke, Jessica Newton, Jenna Caldwell and Abby Stevens; and great-grandchildren, Cole Caldwell, Riley Houser, Landon Houser, Elijah Cooke, William Cooke and Reese Houser.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
