

NEWTON--- Howard James Rowe, 87, passed away July 13, 2014 at Catawba Regional Hospice after a brief illness. Howard was born October 3, 1926 in Catawba Co. to the late Frank and Annie Morgan Rowe. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Tommie Clark Rowe; a granddaughter, Jennifer Rowe; four sisters and a brother. He was a lifelong member of West Hickory Baptist Church, self employed with Howard Rowe and Sons Construction Co. and was a Paratrooper in the United States Army during WW II. Surviving are daughters; Sherry Rowe Weaver of Newton, Jane Rowe Denton of Morganton; son Dennis Howard Rowe of Vale; granddaughters, Leslie Weaver of Chapel Hill, Allison Weaver of Newton; Morgan Williford of Hickory and Bronwyn Crain of Hickory; grandson, Clark Rowe of Hickory; 4 great grandchildren and a sister, Bleeka Hollar of Hickory. Memorial services will be Thursday, July 17, 2014, at 11:00 A. M. at Hickory Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Larry Rowe and Mr. Jerry Wollard officiating. Military honors will be conducted at Hickory Funeral Home by American Legion Post #48.
