Irene Fox Lafone

CONOVER--- Irene Fox Lafone, 94, of Conover was called Home by her Savior on Friday, January 2, 2015. Irene was born on November 16, 1920 in Catawba County to the late Walter and Bessie Fox. She was a long-time member of Springs Road Baptist Church where she faithfully worshiped her Lord and Savior. Irene was a strong Christian woman who set a wonderful example to all those who knew her. In addition to her parents and husband, Reverend Berry Lafone, Irene was preceded in death by brothers, James Fox and Lloyd Fox, and sisters, Margaret Jones, Betty Joe Huffman, Edna Micheal and Ruby Fox and grand-daughters, Tammy Lafone and Debbie Lafone. Irene is survived by sons, Marvin Lafone and wife, Becky, of Conover, Jerry Lafone and wife, Kathy, of Taylorsville, and Berry, Jr. and wife, Debra, of Conover and daughters Carolyn Mitchell and husband, Jerry, of Hickory and Gail Lynch of Conover. Irene was also loved by many devoted grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and loving friends. She is survived by sisters, Jean Wilson, Anne Kirby and husband, Paul, and Shirley VanHorn of Hickory. The family will receive friends on Sunday January 4, 2015 from 1:30 P.M. until 2:45 P.M. at Springs Road Baptist Church.
