Hal Keever ( Jack ) Lingerfelt, 86, passed through the Gates of Heaven Sunday at 4:05PM after a 3 week battle fighting the results of a stroke that left him bedfast with only the limited ability to express and show unconditional love for his loved ones and family. Born in Lincoln County on August 16, 1928 to the late Shuford and Vernie Hull Lingerfelt. Jack loved his country, state, family and friends and most of all for over 60 years of his life he put God first. His mission in life was to share with everyone the path to everlasting life with God. He believed in strong family and friends. He taught that it was noble to always help someone that tries to help themselves. Jack retired after 40 years as a Heavy Equipment Operator at Hickory Sand Company. He became a used car dealer after retirement and loved buying and selling cars and the fellowship he developed with all his dealer friends. Known as the Honda Man, he believed it was better to give a little more than to take on any deal. As a result he had many loyal customers. Jack was the greatest, husband, father, brother, “Pawpaw”, and friend a person could ever want in this world. At family gatherings he always read a passage from the Bible followed by the blessing of any food. He reminded all to look to God for forgiveness and to take care of one another. He believed if something good couldn’t be said about someone it was better to say nothing at all and advised that a person’s actions and the life they live spoke louder than any words. Our family cannot express how much we love and will miss him but we thank all who took time to befriend and help him through his journey in this life. We know he is being rewarded in Heaven and wants all his friends, family and loved ones to live a life that will earn them passage to join him someday in the great reunion he so much believed in. He was a member of Hickory Masonic Lodge 343, former member of Sweetwater Baptist and present member of Tri-City Baptist Church. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by son, Mitchell Lingerfelt; grandson, TJ Hurley; great-granddaughter, Bailey Patterson; sisters, Inez Goins, Madeline Rockett, and Vida Gettys; and brother, Russell Lingerfelt.
