James William Bolick, 73, passed away peacefully at Catawba Regional Hospice on January 5, 2014. Born April 12, 1940, he was the son of the late Ralph Roosevelt Bolick and Maude Irene Sherrill Bolick. Mr. Bolick was an Army veteran and retired from the U. S. Postal Service. He enjoyed fishing, reading, word puzzles and a good laugh.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Jerry Bolick and sister-in-law, Fumiko Bolick.
Left to cherish his love and memory include daughters, Elizabeth Smith and husband Brian of Hickory and Dana Mebane and husband Currie of Maryland. He was the proud grandfather of three grandchildren, Sarah Tucker and husband Ryan of TN, Emily Maisel and husband Micah of VA and Ella Smith of Hickory; great grandson, Logan James Tucker of TN; brother, Max H. Bolick and wife Dycie of Conover; and sisters, Betty Bolick of Newton and Linda B. Lawing and husband Rick of Maiden; nieces and nephews, Mary Killian and husband Andy, Barbara McBride and husband Mark, Jason Bolick and wife Jennifer, Matthew Lawing and Casey Lawing; and numerous great nieces and nephews.
A Service of Remembrance will be held at 12:00 noon on Wednesday, January 8, 2014 in the Chapel of Drum Funeral Home in Hickory. Rev. Richard Schwandt and Rev. Matthew Lawing will officiate and burial will follow in Pisgah Cemetery in Bethlehem.
The family will receive friends from 10:30 to 11:45 a.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home prior to the service.
