James Edgar Snipes

James Edgar Snipes, 85, passed away on Wednesday, November 1, 2017 at Catawba Valley Medical Center.

He was born the son of the late Herman H. Snipes and Katie Maybelle Honeycutt Snipes on October 20, 1932 in Catawba County. James loved to travel with his wife Mary in their past time. He was an avid sports fan and loved his sweet dog Levi very much. James also served in the United States Army.

Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Carolyn Gates (Michael), brothers, Bobby Snipes Sr. (Geraldine), Paul Snipes (Marlene), and Herman “Pete” Snipes Jr.

Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 53 years, Mary Ellen Snipes of the home, sister, Becky Farris (Wilbur) of Boonville, MO, sister –in-law, Betty Snipes of Conover, and numerous nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held on Monday, November 6, 2017 at 3:00 p.m. at Fairview Cemetery. Reverend Earnest Richards will be officiating the service. Military honors will be conducted by The American Legion Post 48.
