James Ronnie Wilson

Hickory – James Ronnie Wilson, 80 of Hickory went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, November 23, 2021 at Catawba Valley Medical Center.

Born on July 20, 1941 in Alexander County, NC, James was the son of the late Grover and Bertha J. Wilson Davis. James served his country with honor as a United States Marine from 1959-1965 and was stationed in Okinawa, Japan. James was an avid shooter and sportsman. He enjoyed hunting, being outdoors, hiking and was a member of the Single Action Shooting Society (SASS).

In addition to his parents and step-father, Juston O. Davis, James is preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Linda Wilson.

He is survived by two sisters, Mary Johnson and Lennis Hall, four children - Kimberly Isner and husband David of West Virginia, Robin Ross of Statesville, Robert Wilson and wife Annette of Hickory, and Jeff Wilson and wife Tiffany of Connelly Springs. Eight grandchildren (Shane Boone, Brooke King, John Rogers, Katie Gill, James Rogers, Seth Wilson, Aaron Isner and Camdyn Abee). Eight great grandchildren (Kayley Davis, Spencer Rogers, Vin Rogers, Payton Rogers, Maxton King, Addylyn Gill, Riley Boone, and Deagan James.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, November 27, 2021 at Catawba Funeral Home at 2:00 pm with Pastor Robert Mitchell officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens at 3120 Falling Creek Rd, Hickory, NC 28601.

The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Wounded Warrior’s Project in James’ name.
