

She was born on October 11, 1939 to the late Bert Weaver and Mary Herman Weaver in Catawba County. Janice was a member of Miller’s Lutheran Church.
Survivors include her husband Blake Jones of the home; brother, Rev. Charles Nelson Weaver of Hickory, brothers-in-law, Bill Jones and wife Paula of Hickory, John Jones and wife Heidi of Claremont; special family member Renee Flowers; nephew JP Jones and wife Sarah, nieces Lorie Fox, Jennifer McCandless and husband Shaun, Jess Jones and wife Kirstie. Great nieces and nephews Riley Fox, Ada and Behr Jones and Jack and June McCandless.
Janice loved teaching and was invested in all aspects of education. She and her husband had no children of their own; therefore, her students were her children in her heart. She served as a trustee on the Alexander County Library Board from 1984 thru 1992. July 5, 2005, was designated as Janice Jones Day in Alexander County in recognition of her dedicated service to education. She was a charter member of Kappa Kappa lota Psi Chapter. Throughout her tenure in KKI, she held many positions at the local, state and national level. In 2005 and 2006, she served as National President. Within her duties, she and her husband traveled thru 48 states meeting other education professionals. Her dedication to the education of professionals and students will be greatly missed.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 22, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at Miller’s Lutheran Church. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12:30 until 2 p.m. at the church. Rev. Todd Cook and Vicar Rebecca Foster will officiate the service. Burial will follow at Catawba Memorial Park.
