HICKORY – Jean Canipe Houser, 92 of Hickory went home to be with her Lord on August 30, 2024 surrounded by her loving family.
Born on January 26, 1932 in Cleveland County to the late Tom and Lucille Gantt Canipe. Jean was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, and friend to all who knew her. She was known for her cakes and love of gardening. Jean loved animals and had many beloved pets through the years.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Jerry Dean Houser; brothers, Hugh Canipe, Hoyle Canipe, Hillard Canipe; sisters, Betty Bowen and Ruth Rutledge.
Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 77 years, John Franklin Houser; children, Jeanette Adkins and husband David, Jewel Blount and husband Mike, Stephen “Johnny” Houser; grandchildren, Shelley Brown and husband Kent, Amy Reep, Nathan Blount and wife Cathy, Justin Houser, Shea Houser and wife Crystal; great-grandchildren, Taylor Brown and partner Alex Elliff, Tori Sain and husband John, Aydan Reep, Addison Reep, Connor Rowe, Lynleigh Blount, Caitlyn Houser; great-great-granddaughters, Harper Brown, Savannah Sain; numerous nieces, nephews and other family members.
A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, September 6, 2024 at 2 PM at Catawba Funeral Home with Pastor Scott Hooks officiating. Burial will follow at Catawba Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:30 PM – 2 PM at the funeral home.
