Jenny R. Eckard

Born in Watauga County on March 20, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Roby Leonard and Cenia Hatley Ritch.

She was a member of St. Stephens Lutheran Church ELCA, and she was a retired cloth cutter at Sherrill Furniture and Thomasville Furniture. Jenny loved to work in her flower garden and spending time with her family. Jenny, along with Harold, enjoyed going to the mountains, and staying at their mountain home. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and great grandmother, she will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years Harold Dean Eckard; brothers Hermon, Henry, Leonard, Calvin, Spencer, Richard, Jesse and Earl; sisters Sarah Louise, Frances and Jane.

She is survived by her daughters Dean Barnes (Stuart) of Taylorsville, Wendy Hart (Troy Fox) of Hickory and Andrea Rogers of Conover; grandchildren Brittney, Brett, Brandon, April, Alyse and Ethan; great grandchildren Brittany, Colby, Claire, Grace, John Henry, Navie, Hudson, Landon, and Haydon; her sister Pearl Crandle and a special sister-in-law Jennie Ritch.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, October 1, 2025 from 12:00 pm to 1:30 pm at Hickory Funeral Home. Graveside service will follow at 2:00 pm at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens with Pastor Lathan Peterson officiating.

Burial will be at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens with her grandchildren as pallbearers.
