CONNELLY SPRINGS – Jerry Lee Powell Sr, 81 of Connelly Springs went home to be with the Lord on March 3, 2025.
Born on February 12, 1944 in Burke County, he was the son of the late Robert Coy and Annie Schuffler Powell. Jerry was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church. He enjoyed working with his hands making swings, birdhouses, dulcimers, and many other things. Jerry loved going to flea markets and NASCAR. He was known as the “Candy Man” because he loved handing out candy everywhere he went.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of51 years, Ann Powell; siblings, Carol (Bug), Shirley, Jackie, Bob, and Gailda.
Left to cherish his memory is his son, Jerry Lee Powell Jr. a sister, Audrey Perkins and numerous nieces, nephews and other family members.
A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, March 6, 2025 at 2 PM at Catawba Funeral Home with Pastor Mike Lowman, Pastor Joe West and Rev. Jonathan Beam officiating. Burial will follow at Catawba Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1 PM – 2 PM at the funeral home.
