Born in Burke County on October 8, 1948, he was the son of the late JD and Parthene Stilwell Young.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Ray Hudson.
Jerry was a United States Army veteran, and truck driver for Midstate Contractors.
He is survived by his wife Sandra Young of the home; sons Tracy Young (Shelia) and Kenneth Young (Lacey); granddaughter Cecila Young; grandsons Blake Young, Dallas Young and Patrick Young; stepchildren, Emile, Tiffany, David and Debra; his sisters Janet Roberts and Ann Childers; his brothers Eddie Hudson and Wayne Dameron (Patsy).
The family will receive friends, Wednesday, August 19, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 Pm at Hickory Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held, Thursday, August 20, 2026, at 2:00 pm in the chapel at Hickory Funeral Home with Reverend Jeremy Smathers officiating.
Burial will follow at Henry River Baptist Church Cemetery.
