Jesse "Jet" Howard Kanupp

Jesse “Jet” Howard Kanupp, 76, passed away September 9, 2014 at his residence after a period of declining health. Jesse was born April 7, 1938 in Catawba Co. to the late Howard E. and Letha Hinson Kanupp. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Revonda K. Young; son, Jesse Howard Kanupp, Jr. and a brother, Homer Leroy Kanupp. Jesse was an avid sports fan. He worked for Shuford Mills; he was a veteran of the U. S. Navy and of the Baptist faith. Surviving are his wife, Kay Townsend Kanupp of the home; sons, Harold Kanupp and wife, Anita, of Hickory, Terry Kanupp and wife, Peggy, of Hudson and Mark Kanupp and wife, Annette, of Hickory; nine grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Lucille Kanupp; son-in-law, Kenneth Young; sister, Lois White of Newton and a number of nieces and nephews. Services will be Friday, September 12, at 3:00 P. M. at Hickory Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Joe Dempsey officiating. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Friday, September 12, from 1:30 – 2:45 P. M. at Hickory Funeral Home. Pallbearers are Mark Kanupp, Jr., Kenneth Young, Jr., Brandon Kanupp, Nathaniel Kanupp, Chris Baldwin and Clif Banks.
