HICKORY – Jessie Vivian Shook, 92 of Hickory went home to be with the Lord on September 5, 2026 at her daughter's residence surrounded by her loving family.
Born on September 9, 1933 in Alexander County to the late Clarence and Veter Pope Jolly. Jessie was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister and friend to all who knew her. She enjoyed working in her yard.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Robert Shook; brothers, Ed Jolly, Jerome Jolly, Tom Jolly; sisters, Lena Jolly Taylor, Elma Jolly Fox, Mary Lou Jolly Earp; daughter, Patricia Shook; and grandson, Ricky Brandon Minton.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Robert Jolly and wife Glenda, Brenda Craig and husband Butch, Timothy Shook and partner, Diane, Dorothy Minton and husband Ricky, Paul Shook and wife Tami; 10 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Ruby Jolly Herman, Linda Jolly Gandy; and numerous nieces, nephews and other family members.
A Graveside Service will be held on Thursday, September 10, 2026 at 1 PM at Catawba Memorial Park with Pastor Jerome Walker officiating. Burial will follow.
The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12 PM -12:45 PM at Catawba Funeral Home.
