She was born on September 10, 1936 to the late Ellis C. Houser and Willie Mae Houser. Mary was a member of Temple Baptist Church.
Along with her parents, her husband, Leonard N. “Sonny” Godfrey; brothers, Jessie “Red” Houser, Frank Houser, and Bill Houser preceded her in death.
Survivors include her daughter, Cindy Weaver (Kenneth) of Hickory; sons, Bruce Godfrey (Leesa) of Hickory, Donald Godfrey (Malinda) of Hickory; granddaughters, Stephanie Eddings (Clinton) of Maiden, Shannon Hollar (Craig) of Conover, Carson Vergel (Ivan) of Hickory, Carly Godfrey of Hickory; grandsons, Benjamin Godfrey (Samantha) of Hickory, Brian Weaver (Jenna) of Conover, Dylan Godfrey of Wilmington, Elijah Godfrey of Hickory; nine great grandchildren; brother, Dean Houser of Hickory; and special “little sister” and neighbor, Donna Maye of Hickory.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, March 28, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Hickory Funeral Home. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 9:45 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. at the funeral home. Pastor Rob Helton will officiate the service. Burial will follow at Catawba Memorial Park.
