John was born March 13, 1932 in Jacksboro, TN to the late, John Agee Sr. and Helen Lucille Bowman. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Laura Ann Turner.
He was a retired U. S. Army Lt. Col. served in Korea, Germany and Vietnam veteran. He was in the eighth Army nuclear weapons division. He earned many metals and accommodations including Meritorious awards, Bronze Star and Purple Heart for combat in Viet Nam. As a second career John was employed by Theikol at Kennedy Space Center as a Senior Engineer on the Space Shuttle Columbia Program.
John was a graduate of Tennessee Tech as a mechanical engineer. He was a member of May’s Chapel United Methodist Church in Maiden, NC.
Surviving is his wife, Evelyn Lookadoo Agee, one daughter, Julie Agee Johnson and husband Ray of Orlando FL, three sons, John A. Agee III and wife Kathleen of Melbourne FL, Michael Eugene Huffman of Newton and Bruce Huffman and his wife Sharon of Galax, VA, two grandchildren , one great grandchild, a sister, Nola Stanley of Raleigh, NC, special friends Conley and Cilla M. Fox of Conover,
A Celebration of his life will be held on Tuesday, August 30th at 4:00 PM Hickory Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Dave Kelly officiating. Military rites will be conducted by The American legion Post #48.
The family will receive friends following the service at Hickory Funeral Home.
A Memorial graveside service will be held on Thursday September 1st at 1:30 PM at Tennessee Veterans Cemetery, 5901 Lyons View Pike, Knoxville, TN 37919-7521
