Floyd was a mentor of mine back in the 60's while I was a student at Lenoir-Rhyne. During my last couple of years there, I began a career that spanned 40 years in basketball officiating. My early days in officiating were spent with men like Floyd who had experience and were willing to pass along their knowledge. It was a pleasure to work many games with him over a three-year period. He also sold me my first insurance policy when I was graduating. RIP My Friend.

I know that Floyd will be missed. I also know that Floyd and Pat are in Heaven on a beautiful 18 hole golf course catching up on their game. Floyd lit up a room when he walked into it with his jokes and quick wit. Pedro and I will be praying for all of you during this difficult time and wish you all the most precious memories of Floyd.

Thank you for all your prayers and calls, and well wishes for us during this unbelievable time. We still feel like he's still here with us, and in a the way that he loved us, he still is. We have told each other stories and laughed, and Dad would have loved to hear them. He would probably have said, "now this is how I remember it" and we'd laugh. Laughter was our great balm during difficult times. That's why we want to have a celebration in the springtime for Dad and tell all those fun stories.
Thank you and we love you.

Needless to say, we can't believe that we are here. Thank you all so much for your thoughts, prayers, and kind words.
We have shared many tears this week but we have also shared much laughter. Dad loved us so, and he let us know it often. We are especially grateful for Mom's answered prayers, and Dad's closer walk with the Lord later in his life. We know where he is, and we look forward to being reunited with him.
