
John Franklin “Frank” Turner, 83, of Newton, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on May 31, 2017 at Abernethy Laurels in Newton. Born March 20, 1934 in Fayetteville, NC, he was the son of the late Willis Perry Turner and Zera Payne Turner. Rev. Turner was previously a Baptist Minister for 53 years, serving North Carolina in the following churches, Bladen Union Baptist Church, Lumber Bridge Baptist Church, Fremont Missionary Baptist Church, Brown Baptist Church and Garner’s Chapel Baptist Church.
John is survived by his wife of 57 years, Lua Curry Turner of Newton; sons, John Franklin Turner, Jr. and wife Alison Stanford Turner of Concord, and Timothy Paul Turner and wife Angela Lanier Turner of Hickory; grandchildren, Hope Elizabeth Turner of Oregon, Caswell Lynn Turner and Autumn Faith Turner, both of Concord, Caroline Rebecca Turner and Brandon Perry Turner, both of Hickory.
A Memorial Service in Celebration of John’s life will be held at 3:00 p.m. Friday, June 2, 2017 at Viewmont Baptist Church with Dr. Earl Davis and Dr. Gary Threatt officiating.
The family will receive friends prior to the service from 2:00 p.m. – 2:45 p.m. at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to NC Baptist Assembly, 100 Caswell Beach Road, Oak Island, NC 28465.
