John was born September 16, 1933 in Caldwell Co. to the late Carl and Ruth Boldin Laxton.
He was a member of Viewmont Baptist Church, Korean War veteran served in the US Air Force in North Africa and retired from Piedmont Vending.
Surviving are daughters; Frankie Lail and husband, Dale of Hickory, Chasity Laxton of Lincolnton, Misty Peffer and husband, James of Dawsonville, GA, Kathy Baker and husband, Wayne of Winston Salem;
sons, Chad Laxton and wife, Sandy of Conover and Mike Laxton of Albuquerque, New Mexico;
7 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be Friday, October 5, at 5:00 PM at Hickory Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Eddie Sapoch officiating.
At other times the family will be at the home of Chad Laxton, Conover.
