

John Bobby Mosteller, 86, of Hickory, passed to his heavenly home on Sunday, October 8, 2017 at Catawba Regional Hospice surrounded by his loved ones. Born January 30, 1931, in Lincoln County, NC, he was the son of the late Lenoir Alexander Mosteller and Eva Lee Brackett Mosteller.
Bobby retired as a welder with General Electric Co. and was a veteran of the US Army, having served during the Korean War. During his years of service, he received numerous medals, badges, and honors, most notably a Bronze Star, Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal and the National Defense Service Medal.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by six sisters and three brothers.
John is survived by his wife of 65 years, Frankie Bass Mosteller; daughter, Diana M. Peeler and husband Jim of Hickory; son, John F. Mosteller and wife Nan of Richmond, VA; grandchildren, Carrie Eldreth and husband, Devin, Anna Mosteller, and Alex Peeler; and great-grandson, Arlo Eldreth.
A service of remembrance will be held at 1:30 PM on Tuesday, October 10, 2017, in the Chapel of Drum Funeral Home in Hickory, NC. A graveside service with military rites by American Legion Post #48 will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12:45 – 1:15 PM on Tuesday.
