Ms. Judy G. Moretz

JUDY GARLAND MORETZ HICKORY-Judy Garland Moretz, 72, of Hickory passed away on August 4, 2015 at Catawba Regional Hospice. Born on May 21, 1943 in Dixon County, Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Willet Moretz and Augustine Moretz Fleming. Judy was a fun loving and devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend to all who knew her. She enjoyed doing crafts, camping, being outdoors and spending time with her family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Melissa Corkran; a son, Roger Gibbs; a grandson, Jason Wayne Gibbs; great-grandson, Ethan Miguel Gibbs; and brothers, Dan Moretz and Paul Moretz. Survivors include her sons, Daniel Gibbs and wife Cynthia of Hickory, Mark Gibbs of Hickory; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; brothers, Willet Moretz Jr. and wife Helen of Virginia, James Moretz and wife Cindy of Hickory; sisters, Cornelia “Neda” Jenkins and husband Glenn of Virginia, Wanda Rose and husband Eddie of Virginia; and numerous nieces and nephews. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, August 7, 2015 at 3 PM at Grace Gospel Church, 1405 2nd St Dr SW, Hickory, NC 28602, with Pastor Reginald Pugh officiating. The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 6, 2015 from 6-8 PM at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Catawba Regional Hospice, 3975 Robinson Rd, Newton, NC 28658.
