Kathryn Propst Pope

HICKORY - Kathryn Propst Pope, 94, passed away September 30, at Sherrills Ford Hospice House after a period of declining health. Katheryn was born April 29, 1921 in Catawba Co. to the late L. E. Propst and Claudia Beard Propst Colter. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Caleb Walker Gibbs, second husband, Joe Joseph Pope, 2 brothers and 2 sisters. She was a member of Oxford Baptist Church. She worked for Wal-Mart as a dept. head and last served as a greeter and enjoyed cooking for Mt. Olive preschool. Surviving are a grandson, Charles “Chuck” Gibbs, Jr and wife, Katie of Asheville; granddaughters, Tammy Younts and husband, Danny of Lexington, Glenda Griffith and husband, Britt of Claremont and Wendy Wilson and husband, Eric of Hickory; 7 great grandchildren and one great great grandson, numerous nieces, nephews, friends including Karen Grant and Gloria Anderson. The family will receive friends Saturday, Oct. 3, from 10:00 until 10:45 A. M. at Hickory Funeral Home. Services will be Saturday, Oct. 3, at 11:00 A. M. at Hickory Funeral Home Chapel with Rev.
