Born in Catawba County on June 2, 1933, he was the son of the late Ada Essie Bumgarner.
In addition to his mother he was preceded in death by one brother and one sister.
Ken worked for Guy Frye & Sons Inc. for many years, he also served as a member of the Town of Long View Board of Aldermen for 34 years and was a veteran of the United States Army.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Patsy Bumgarner of the home; sons Kenneth “Alan” Bumgarner and wife Crystal of Conover and Tim Bumgarner of Conover; granddaughters Jessica Winebarger and Anna Buchanan both of Conover and one niece.
Private Graveside service will be held at Bethel United Methodist Church Cemetery with Reverend Vernon Moyer officiating.
