Kenneth Junior Vaughan, age 56, of Newton, NC, passed away on Monday, February 26, 2018 at his residence. Born April 12, 1961, in Henry County, VA, he was the son of Shirley East Young of Granite Falls, NC, and the late Kyle Junior Vaughan.

Kenneth was a long time employee of Stanford Furniture Co. and a member of the Hickory Riding Club.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 16 years, Janice Carswell Vaughan of Newton; mother, Shirley East Young of Granite Falls, NC; son, Kenneth “Chad” Vaughan and fiancé, Veronica Cavanaugh of Hickory; stepdaughter, Brandy Jones and husband, Jeremy of Lincolnton, grandchildren, Jai’mie Logan Vaughan, Keegan Chance Vaughan, Karly Rose Vaughan; and step-grandson, McKinley Jones.

A celebration of Kenneth’s life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, March 2, 2018 in the Chapel of Drum Funeral Home in Hickory, NC with Rev. Dwight Lowman officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church Cemetery in Connelly Springs, NC.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 11:00 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. on Friday prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to: Catawba Regional Hospice, c/o Hickory Riding Club, Bronson Ride, 3975 Robinson Road, Newton, NC 28658.

Kenny always made me laugh when he walked into the Wizard Saloon. He loved his wife Janice and went out of his to help others. He will be greatly missed, spread your wings to protect your wife and others, fly high my friend you will be missed!
