

LAWRENCE JUNIOR (JUNE) HOLMAN GRANITE FALLS – Lawrence Junior (June) Holman, 83, of Granite Falls went home to be with his Lord on October 30, 2014 at the Veterans Hospital in Asheville. Mr. Holman was born in Caldwell County on Nov. 5, 1930. He was the son of the late Enoch Holman and Fannie Smith Holman. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. Mr. Holman worked at Shuford Mills and retired from Regal Manufacturing of Hickory. He served as a Light Weapons Infantryman in Company L, Fort Benning, GA assigned to the 15th Infantry Regiment in the Army during the Korean Conflict. He was awarded the following Decorations: National Defense Service Medal-Army of Occupation Medal (Germany)-United Nations Service Medal-Combat Infantryman Badge-Korean Service Medal with two Bronze Service Stars. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 52 years, Pinola Crotts Holman; his brothers, Howard, Glenn, Odell; sisters, Ruth Icard and Katherine Holman. Survivors include his sons, Scott Holman of the home, Doug Garner and wife Sherri of Virginia, daughters, Sharon De Anda and husband Bernard of Granite Falls, Sheila Burns and husband Phil of Lenoir, nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, November 3, 2014 at 12 PM at Ebenezer United Methodist Church in Granite Falls with Rev. Eric Lane officiating. Burial will follow at Catawba Memorial Park in Hickory. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 11-12 at Ebenezer United Methodist Church in Granite Falls.
