CONOVER – Lee Roy Bumgarner, 89 of Conover passed away on December 27, 2024.
Born on September 25, 1935 in Caldwell County, to the Wilburn Shaver Bumgarner and Nora Looper Bumgarner. Lee was a Veteran of the US Army and a charter member of Crossroads Baptist Church. He was a salesman in the trucking industry.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Presnell Bumgarner; siblings, Wade Bumgarner, Clyde Bumgarner, Bernice Whitener, Tommy Bumgarner, Lucille Lafone, Gwen Bumgarner, Glenn Bumgarner, and JP Bumgarner; and his beloved Tessa, his mini dachshund.
Survivors include his sisters, Frances Fisher, Melba Jean Penley; numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and special friend, Regina Clark.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Tuesday, December 31, 2024 at 2 PM at Catawba Funeral Home with Rev. Matthew Taylor officiating. Entombment will follow at Catawba Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be left to Shriner’s Hospital for Children in Greenville, SC, 950 West Faris Rd, Greenville, SC 29605 or St Jude Children Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis TN 38105.
