Linda Jean Berryhill

September 12, 1946 – September 5, 2026

Linda Jean Berryhill was born to Robert Daniel Berryhill and Leavada Grooms Berryhill on September 12, 1946. On the morning of September 5, 2026, just days before her 80th birthday, she peacefully left this life and met them again in heaven.

Those who knew Linda knew how deeply she loved her children—but they also knew that she loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren even more. Her family was at the heart of her life, and she had a special way of making the people she loved know that they mattered.

Linda never forgot a detail. She asked questions—not simply to make conversation, but because she genuinely wanted to know what was happening in your life. She remembered the answers, too. Her questions were one of the many ways she showed that she loved you and cared about you.

She also had a wonderful sense of humor that revealed itself once she got to know you. And if you wanted to have a technical discussion, Linda had an engineer’s mind. She could break down a problem, figure out how something worked, and quite often tell you how to fix it.

Linda was an avid and talented quilter who blessed countless family members and friends with handmade gifts over the years. Each quilt and creation represented hours of her time and became a tangible reminder of her love.

Then there was her cooking. Linda loved cooking for her family and carried forward recipes and traditions she learned from her grandparents and her mother. Food was another way she cared for the people around her, and many family memories were made around meals she prepared.

Linda retired from Century Furniture after many years of service, working in production and pattern making. Her ability to understand how things fit together and her attention to detail served her well both in her work and throughout her life.

To know Linda was to be blessed.

She is survived by her brother, Robert Allen Berryhill and wife, Sue, of Garland, Maine.

She is also survived by her children, Tami Fox and husband, Jonathan, of Taylorsville, and Larry Watts, Jr. and wife, Angela, of Hickory.

Linda’s grandchildren are Ashley Fox Sigmon and husband, Cass; Nicholas Jon Fox; Toney “Tre” Gantt III and wife, Mia; Jacob Bradley Fox and wife, Chasity; Daniel Thomas Fox; Sadie Watts Apollonio and husband, Nick; Quinton Samuel Fox; Ashlyn Olivia Watts and Devin Honaker; Benjamin David Fox, and Lauren Cassidy Bolick.

Her great-grandchildren are Rayn Gantt, River Fox, Autumn Fox, and Camden Sigmon.

Linda is also survived by two special daughters of her heart, Jessica Page and husband, Eric, and Jana Smith and husband, David. She is also survived by two nieces, Dawn Wallace of Gilbert, SC and Mindy Berryhill of Garland, Maine.

Linda leaves behind a family who will miss her questions, her humor, her cooking, her quilts, her remarkable memory, her practical wisdom, and, most of all, the unmistakable way she loved them.

She will be greatly missed by her family and friends, but the many things she made, taught, cooked, remembered, and gave so freely will continue to tell her story for generations to come.

Hickory Funeral Home is honored to serve Linda’s family. Linda will be laid to rest at Catawba Memorial Park on Saturday, September 12, 2026—the day that would have marked her 80th birthday. Graveside service at 11:00 am at Catawba Memorial Park.
