Linda Jean Maher Schmidt, age 65, of Hickory, NC, passed away on Tuesday, October 6, 2015 at Catawba Regional Hospice in Newton, NC. Born January 17, 1950, in Rensselaer County, NY, she was the daughter of the late John Joseph Maher, Sr. and Lillian Mae Rowland Maher. Linda retired from the restaurant industry where she had worked in management.
In addition to her parents, Linda was preceded in death by her brother, Bob Maher.
Survivors include her daughters, Caroline Spurlin and Cassandra Schmidt, both of Hickory, NC; grandchildren, Justin Hazlett, Emily Spurlin, Matt Spurlin, and Hannah Spurlin; sister, Cori Maher of Hickory, NC; and brother, John Maher of Salisbury, NC; several nephews, including her special nephew, Michael Maher of Raleigh, NC.
Linda’s family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 PM on Saturday, October 10, 2015 at Drum Funeral Home in Hickory, NC.
In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial contributions be made to Catawba Regional Hospice, 3975 Robinson Road, Newton, NC, 28658.
