She was born on May 7, 1932 in Leckie, West Virginia to Ulysses and Rhoda Holbrook Richardson. Lois grew up in North Wilkesboro and married Rev.Charles Keyes in 1950 and they made their home in Hickory. Together they ministered to countless people in the Appalachian Mountains and Charles was known affectionately as “The Parson of the Hills”.
Lois is survived by her children, David Keyes and wife Finley of Hickory, Teresa Winata and husband Asher of Houston, Texas; sister, Ruby Shumate of North Wilkesboro; granddaughter Joni Horne and husband Nate of Hickory; great grandchildren, Zachary Horne and Jonathan Horne and lifelong friend, Jean Payne.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Rev. Charles “The Parson of the Hills” Keyes.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, August 15, 2015 at 10:00 am at Catawba Memorial Park. Words of comfort for the family may be left at www.catawbamemorialpark.com. The Keyes family is under the care of Catawba Funeral Home.
