LORENA “RENE” JOLLY JOHNSON NEWTON- Lorena “Rene” Jolly Johnson, 90 of Newton went home to be with her Lord on February 4, 2017. Born on November 12, 1926 in Alexander County, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Franklin and Chattie Deal Jolly. Rene was a member of East First Street Baptist Church of Newton. She was an avid collector of dolls and clocks. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Johnson; brothers, Plez and Ronald Jolly; sisters, Dora Odell, and Maude Eaton; nephew, Ronald Jolly, Jr. Survivors include her step-daughter, Juel Johnson Little and husband Stan; step-granddaughter, Jill L. King and husband Rodger; nephews, Elvin, Joe, and Tim Jolly; niece, Patsy J. Little; numerous other family members; and special friends and caregivers, Doris Blackburn, Tessa, T.J., and Teresa Hoke. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Wednesday, February 8, 2017 at 11 AM at Catawba Funerals & Cremations with Pastor Allen McCoy officiating. Entombment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 10:30-11 am at the funeral home.
