Lottie "Shorty" Lavelle Minton

HICKORY - Lottie “Shorty” Lavelle Minton, went to be with her Lord Monday April 5, 2010 at Caldwell County Hospice in Lenoir after a period of declining health of several years.

Lottie was born November 1, 1920 in McCool, Mississippi to the late Walter Hamilton Greene and Lena Brown Greene. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her late husband Thurman F. Minton who died on September 5, 1977, and a sister Eunice Huffman.

She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church Hickory, and retired as a seamstress with Old Hickory Overall Company.

Surviving is a son Frank Minton of Hickory a daughter Reita M. Hargus and husband Norman of Lenoir; grandchildren Scott Dial of Hickory, Kristina Woods of Morganton, Greg Hargus and Derrick Hargus of Lenoir, Walter Minton of Lincolnton and Aaron Hargus of Hickory; Great grandchildren include Kisha Spence, Tisha Annis, Jocelyn Woods, Jordan Hargus, Hunter Hargus, Hailey Hargus , Trinity Minton and Michael Brigman one great great granddaughter Aaliyah Brown, a sister Odell Patterson and a number of nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until 2:30 PM on Wednesday at Hickory Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be Wednesday April 7, 2010 at 3:00 PM at Hickory Funeral Home Chapel.

The Reverend Bert Dixon and Reverend Larry Winkler will be officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Hickory.
