Mamie Jones Lacey Dion

Mamie Dion , 95, passed away peacefully at Hickory Manor in Hickory, NC on May 5, 2015. She was born January 18, 1920 in High Point, NC to Solomon Luther Jones and Bessie Emma (Williams) Jones. Mamie graduated from China Grove High School in 1937 and was a member of the Eastern Star and a life-long member of the ELCA Lutheran Church. She was a wonderful mother to her five children, a great cook and seamstress, an excellent writer with beautiful penmanship and a very avid reader her whole life. Mamie is survived by her brother Richard Jones of Granite Quarry , son Dennis Lacey ( wife Sandra) of Powhatan, VA, her son Deryl Lee Lacey (wife Lynn) of Canton, MI, her daughter Wanda Lacey Graves (husband George) of Calabash, NC, grandchildren Denise Barringer, Cat Studdard, Lorraine Jarrell, Jennifer Lacey, Jessica Callahan, Christopher Graves, Luke Graves, Wesley Lacey, Brannon Lacey, Ashleigh Lacey, Bonnie Christy McCune, Robin Morris and Greg Christy and son-in-law Elburn Lee “Chris” Christy. Additionally, she had 13 great – grandchildren and 3 great-great –grandchildren. Mamie was preceded in death by 3 husbands Jack Lacey (1969), Marvin Deal (1993), Oliver Dion(2008), sister Lucille Barger, brothers C.B. Jones, Don Jones and Rollo Jones, step- daughter Helen Christy, son Stephen Lacey and grandson Philip Christy. A service will be held at Hickory Funeral Home at 2 pm. Sunday, May 10 with viewing between Noon and 2 pm. Afterward burial will take place at Grace Lutheran Church, Salisbury, NC. Memorials may be made in her memory to St. Stephens Lutheran Church ELCA in Hickory and to Grace Lutheran Church in Salisbury. A memorial service at St. Stephens Lutheran Church will be announced at a later date.
