Margaret Richard Reep

Margaret Frances Richard Reep, 100, of Hickory peacefully entered eternal rest at her home on January 5, 2026. Surrounded by love, she transitioned from this world into Heaven, where she is now joyfully reunited with her beloved husband.

She was born on December 11, 1925, to the late Maurice A. Richard and Annie Lee Wilson Richard in Lincoln County. Margaret was a member of Highland United Methodist Church since 1950. She dedicated 25 years of her life to her career as an Optometric Assistant. Before her retirement, Margaret continued to work at Captain's Galley Seafood until the remarkable age of 90.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband James “Jim” Edwin Reep; daughter, Linda Kay Reep Lankford, four sisters and one brother.

Those left to cherish her memory include her daughters, Judy Dianne Reep Barringer and husband Tim of Conover, Nancy Jeanne Reep Cochran and husband Michael of Martinsville, VA; son-in-law, Dick Lankford of Raleigh, NC, grandchildren, Christy Klassett Kunes and husband Marc of Rutherfordton, Stacy Jeanne Colledge of San Diego, CA, Jordan Michaela Cochran of Harrogate, TN, Richard “Richie” Jay Colledge and wife Mary of Martinsville, VA, great grandchildren; Courtney Elise Deal-Bridges and husband Justin of Hickory, Camryn Nicole Deal of Candler, NC, Marcy Christine Kunes of Rutherfordton, NC, Sarah Michelle Kunes of Lebanon, PA, Brandon Taylor Colledge and Kaci of Martinsville, VA; great-great grandchildren; Alaina Trinity Grace Branscom of Martinsville, VA, Kolton Lee Colledge of Martinsville, VA, Aslan Andrew Bridges of Hickory, Owen Jay Colledge of Martinsville, VA, sister; Wanda Richard Avery of Crouse, NC, and a number of nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 9, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Highland United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 11:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. at the church. Rev. Alan Gaylord will be officiating the service. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.

Serving as pallbearers will be Tim Barringer, Michael Cochran, Richie Colledge, Taylor Colledge, Justin Bridges, and Jamar Brown.
